Adia Blackmon

Adia Blackmon is the founder and manager of Black Woman Press. She is a graduate of the School of Theology at Virginia Union University with her Master Degree of Divinity. Adia is a minister and was licensed to preach by Alfred Street Baptist Church. Adia is a native of Richton Park, Illinois, she graduated with a BA English and an MT Education from Hampton University. Formerly a fourth grade teacher, Adia has written a book of poetry titled A New Creature through Black Woman Press. In April 2005 Black Woman Press published its second title, A Drop of Oil. Adia feels fortunate and blessed to be in the position to link so many people's gifts and talents together to produce wonderful works of art that edify and encourage others.

MarQuita Carmichael-Burton

MarQuita A. Carmichael Burton is a native of Arlington, Virginia who enjoys sharing her life with her husband, Anthony Burton, and their son, Anthony. She is the pastor of The Vineyard Ministries in Richmond Virginia and the founder of the Diamonds and Pearls Teen Mentoring program. MarQuita graduated with her Master of Divinity degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia.

Derek Ham

Derek A. Ham is a professor at Hampton University's Department of Architecture. Prior to teaching at Hampton Derek taught two years at Philadelphia's Charter High School of Architecture and Design (CHAD.) He has always been involved in the arts holding such positions as a muralist for Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church, Hampton, VA; resident artist/instructor for North Philadelphia's Congresso Girl's Center, and Design teacher at the Pennsylvania Governor's School of Art. Derek received his B. Arch. from Hampton and his MArch. from Harvard's Graduate School of Design.

Carmen Jenkins-Parris

Carmen E. Jenkins-Parris is an art teacher at Eugene A. Clark Elementary School in the District of Columbia. She is a graduate of Howard University with her MFA in Electronic Studio Art and a graduate of Hampton University with her BA in Graphic Design. Carmen has created web sites for Black Woman Press and Howard University's Early Learning Program. Her work is featured on the cover of "A New Creature" Carmen is the Art Director of Black Woman Press.
